Chinese Spicy Sesame Beef Stir-Fry on Black Rice
Ingredients
½ lb beef sirloin cut across the grain into thin strips
1 ½ tbsp sesame seeds
3-4 cups broccoli crowns
1 cup sliced yellow and orange bell peppers
½ cup beef broth
2 tbsp dark soy sauce
1 tbsp ginger
1 clove of garlic
1 tsp cornstarch
¼ tsp hot chili pepper
3 tbsp of vegetable oil
2 cups black rice
Directions
Boil black rice in a medium saucepan with 3 cups of water; add additional water if necessary and cook until rice becomes soft. Remove from heat, cover and set aside.
Coat beef strips with sesame seeds in a bowl. Combine broccoli crowns and peppers in another bowl. Combine broth, soy sauce, ginger, garlic, cornstarch, and red pepper in bowl until cornstarch disintegrates. .Heat up 1-1/2 tablespoons oil in a wok or large skillet over high heat, then add beef and stir fry until browned. Remove beef from heat to a plate. Add the remaining oil, add broccoli and pepper mixture, stir fry for a couple minutes then cover for 5 minutes. Add the leftover ingredients, and stir-fry for an additional few minutes. Add beef and simmer on medium low until sauce thickens, stirring frequently. Serve beside a mound of Black Rice, enjoy.
